Upcoming Board Position Openings
Redmond Cycling Club is an organization that is powered by volunteers. The mission of the Redmond Cycling Club is to create a passionate cycling community and provide cycling experiences for experienced cyclists. The Redmond Cycling Club is also steward of the Northwest's premier cycling event: Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day (RAMROD). RAMROD is a single-day event that celebrates the beauty of Mount Rainier National Park and features a challenging course of 150 miles and 10,000 ft of climbing.
As we gear up for the new year, RCC is recruiting for open board positions as well as looking for passionate volunteers that can help us with our mission.
Being part of the RAMROD experience and contributing to the cycling community is gratifying. The Board works with the RAMROD Director and oversees club rides and other activities. The Board is in an active phase of development and restructuring, so this is an exciting time to help guide the club.
The club also sponsors other ancillary rides, such as training rides. The Board comprises seven to nine members, two of whom will retire at the end of the year. We must fill those positions and, in addition, add the skills and knowledge needed to support our charter. Board meetings occur monthly, rotating between in-person and via Zoom. Board members also communicate via email on an interim basis as issues arise.
A board member's term of office is three years. Board members must be club members who have ridden RAMROD or volunteered in a meaningful position.
Desirable skills include:
Commitment to RCC's mission and philosophy
Ability to work with others
Project management experience
Marketing/communication skills
Technical skills related to website development and social media management
Organizational skills
The Board is currently restructuring, focusing on the abilities desired for long-term success. The skills we need include those of the Communications Director and Membership Director. We also need marketing, design, communication skills, social media management, and familiarity with website development. The board secretary is retiring this year so we must also replace this vital person. We welcome committed, energetic cycling community members.
If you want to serve on the Board, please contact ramrod@redmondcycling.club to answer your questions and discuss our needs. We want to meet with you to answer your questions and discuss RCC and your contribution. By the end of November, the Board will decide which candidates to nominate for election.
Regards,
Pamela Austin, RCC Board Member
